Pinochian Politicians

What do the representatives of the political parties PRI and PAN have in common with a soap opera? Or perhaps more precise given the news in today’s El Informador, what don’t they have in common? And, can this really be considered a bad joke, or is it more of a profound questioning of a sociopolitical nature of the Mexican government? After a conference held to get to the bottom of a current political dispute for the public’s wellbeing no one left looking good. Complete with name calling of ‘Liar’ and ‘Pinocchio’, afterwards it is hard to believe that these are the ones asking for our vote. In these moments in which all seriousness that a political debate could have is lost, one can only vote for the least of the evils. There is no professionalism in the image of these Mexican politicians, and their insincerity is perhaps the most accurate reflection of the political system in which they act. Comparatively, this is the only good I have to say for the politicians of the US; living in a country where an extramarital rendezvous is grounds for impeachment they live in fear of possible discoveries by a hungry paparazzi of any clue as to any suspicious aspect of their personal lives, and strive with a deep paranoia for professionalism in their image. See? Even the freedom of a hungry sensationalist press has its perks.
